Glossary of tiling terms
BISQUE / BISCUIT — unglazed ceramic tile that has undergone its initial firing process. During this firing, the tile is heated to a high temperature, causing it to harden and become durable. Bisque tiles typically have a matte or rough surface and are often used as a base for further decoration or glazing. These tiles are commonly used in pottery and ceramic art projects, where they serve as a blank canvas for artists to apply their designs or glazes before undergoing a second firing.
