DIRECT METHOD — The direct method of creating a mosaic is a technique where the tesserae are directly applied to the surface or substrate. In this method, the design is first drawn or outlined on the surface, and then adhesive, such as cement or glue, is applied in small sections. The tesserae are then individually placed onto the adhesive, following the design.

The direct method allows for more precise control over the placement of each tessera, resulting in detailed and intricate designs. It is commonly used for small or intricate projects, as well as for curved or irregular surfaces. Once all the tesserae are in place, grout is applied to fill the gaps between the tiles, securing them in position and providing a finished appearance. The direct method offers flexibility and immediate visual feedback, making it a popular choice for mosaic artists and craftsmen.
