Glossary of tiling terms
EARTHENWARE — objects created from regular clay that is fired at approximately 1000 degrees Celsius. Unlike other ceramic materials, earthenware retains its porosity even after firing, making it permeable to liquids and gases.
This characteristic gives earthenware tiles a distinct texture and natural appeal. They are commonly used in various tiling applications and are often finished with glazes or decorative treatments to enhance their visual appeal and improve their functionality. The porous nature of earthenware makes it suitable for certain applications where breathability or a rustic aesthetic is desired.
