EGYPTIAN FAIENCE — non-clay based ceramic material composed of crushed quartz or sand, combined with calcite lime and a blend of alkalis. This unique composition distinguishes it from tin-glazed ware and glazed architectural ceramics.

Egyptian faience was utilized in the production of small glazed objects and tiles, renowned for their vibrant colours and distinctive appearance. The material's composition allowed for the creation of intricate designs and patterns, which were achieved through moulding, shaping, and firing techniques. Egyptian faience holds great historical significance and is celebrated for its contribution to ancient Egyptian art and craftsmanship.
