HELLENISTIC MOSAICS — the mosaic techniques that emerged and developed during the Hellenistic period, spanning from the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BC to the Battle of Actium in 31 BC.
Mosaic art experienced significant advancements during this era, transitioning from pebble mosaics to intricate designs crafted with tesserae. Two notable techniques employed were opus vermiculatum and opus tessellatum, each contributing to the rich mosaic-making tradition of the time.
