KEY DRAWING — A small-scale drawing which indicates numbered sections, measures of the mosaic, axes and all the details which are needed to lay small and middle-sized mosaics.

KEY / KEYING  — The effect, or process, of scoring the base, or a thick layer of adhesive, to provide an effective grip for the tile, see BACK BUTTERING.

Kiln — Oven in which tiles are fired.
