tunnel kiln — type of kiln used for continuous firing of ceramic ware. The kiln is designed with a stationary firing zone located at the centre while a long straight tunnel surrounds it.

The ceramic ware, such as tiles or pottery, is loaded onto refractory lined decks that are positioned on a series of kiln cars. These cars move slowly through the tunnel, passing through the firing zone.

The kiln's length can vary depending on the production requirements, accommodating a large volume of ware. The firing process in a tunnel kiln is carefully controlled to achieve optimal temperature conditions for the ceramics. As the cars move through the kiln, the ware is exposed to gradually increasing temperatures, allowing for the desired firing reactions to take place.
